After watching hundreds of guests unpack at camp, a few patterns are extremely consistent — both in what people forget and what they never needed.
Actually essential
- Neutral-colored clothing (khaki, olive, grey — not white or bright colors)
- A proper wide-brimmed hat and high-SPF sunscreen
- Binoculars — camps rarely have enough to share
- A basic first aid kit with anti-malarials if prescribed
Almost always overpacked
Full changes of clothes for every single day. Most camps offer next-day laundry, and safari days genuinely don't require a fresh outfit each time.
Often forgotten
A dry bag or ziplock for camera gear during dusty game drives, and a portable charger — not every tented camp has power in the room itself.
