This 3-day safari pairs cultural immersion with one of Africa's most extraordinary wildlife encounters. The journey begins in Kigali with a city tour that includes the Genocide Memorial Museum. From there, travelers head north to Ruhengeri, the gateway to Volcanoes National Park, home to Mount Karisimbi and four other forested volcanoes. The heart of the trip is a full day of gorilla trekking through open fields, terraced slopes, and bamboo forest, culminating in an unforgettable hour spent in the presence of mountain gorillas, alongside the chance to spot the endemic golden monkey.
Arrival in Kigali and welcome by a company representative, followed by a city tour including the Genocide Memorial Museum. Lunch at a local restaurant, then transfer to your lodge near Ruhengeri.
After breakfast, transfer to Volcanoes National Park headquarters to meet your trekking guides (maximum 8 people per group) for a briefing. The trek — 4 to 8 hours depending on the gorillas' location — passes through open fields, terraced slopes, and bamboo forest, followed by one hour observing the gorillas.
Breakfast, then a scenic drive back to Kigali, arriving in time for lunch. Transfer to Kigali International Airport depending on your international flight time.
